Closures Vs Frontals What’s the Difference?

A lace frontal is used when you want to recreate the entire hairline from ear to ear. It is also trendy with women who have thinning edges or traction alopecia. A lace closure does not cover your head from temple to temple. This hair piece is attached to a cornrow base and secured around the perimeter to protect your hair.

These factors determine the difference between a closure and a frontal:

  • Installation – Both closures can be sown in or made into a wig. Lace closures are sewn into place while lace frontals are generally meant to be bonded in place. Both can be placed wither in front or behind the hairline, lace frontals are commonly placed in the front of the hairline because they are bonded.
  • Versatility – Closures only cover a small portion of the front of the install making it impossible to pull back the sides without exposing the tracks. A lace frontal covers the entire hairline and will allow you to achieve a seamless style that you can pull back off of your face.
  • Cost – Lace frontal are more expensive because it allows you style your hair naturally. With a closure, you are limited to styling your hair without exposing the tracks.

Depending on your style of choice, a lace frontal may be more appealing to you versus a closure or vice versa.
